Psalm 119
1Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to Yahweh’s law. 2who seek him with their whole heart. Blessed are those who keep his statutes, 3They walk in his ways. Yes, they do nothing wrong. 4that we should fully obey them. You have commanded your precepts, 5to obey your statutes! Oh that my ways were steadfast 6when I consider all of your commandments. Then I wouldn’t be disappointed, 7when I learn your righteous judgments. I will give thanks to you with uprightness of heart, 8Don’t utterly forsake me. I will observe your statutes. 9By living according to your word. How can a young man keep his way pure? 10Don’t let me wander from your commandments. With my whole heart, I have sought you. 11that I might not sin against you. I have hidden your word in my heart, 12Teach me your statutes. Blessed are you, Yahweh. 13I have declared all the ordinances of your mouth. With my lips, 14as much as in all riches. I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies, 15and consider your ways. I will meditate on your precepts, 16I will not forget your word. I will delight myself in your statutes. 17I will live and I will obey your word. Do good to your servant. 18that I may see wondrous things out of your law. Open my eyes, 19Don’t hide your commandments from me. I am a stranger on the earth. 20My soul is consumed with longing for your ordinances at all times. 21who wander from your commandments. You have rebuked the proud who are cursed, 22for I have kept your statutes. Take reproach and contempt away from me, 23your servant will meditate on your statutes. Though princes sit and slander me, 24and my counselors. Indeed your statutes are my delight, 25Revive me according to your word! My soul is laid low in the dust. 26Teach me your statutes. I declared my ways, and you answered me. 27Then I will meditate on your wondrous works. Let me understand the teaching of your precepts! 28strengthen me according to your word. My soul is weary with sorrow: 29Grant me your law graciously! Keep me from the way of deceit. 30I have set your ordinances before me. I have chosen the way of truth. 31Don’t let me be disappointed. I cling to your statutes, Yahweh. 32for you have set my heart free. I run in the path of your commandments, 33I will keep them to the end. Teach me, Yahweh, the way of your statutes. 34Yes, I will obey it with my whole heart. Give me understanding, and I will keep your law. 35for I delight in them. Direct me in the path of your commandments, 36not toward selfish gain. Turn my heart toward your statutes, 37Revive me in your ways. Turn my eyes away from looking at worthless things. 38that you may be feared. Fulfill your promise to your servant, 39for your ordinances are good. Take away my disgrace that I dread, 40Revive me in your righteousness. Behold, I long for your precepts! 41your salvation, according to your word. Let your loving kindness also come to me, Yahweh, 42for I trust in your word. So I will have an answer for him who reproaches me, 43for I put my hope in your ordinances. Don’t snatch the word of truth out of my mouth, 44forever and ever. So I will obey your law continually, 45for I have sought your precepts. I will walk in liberty, 46and will not be disappointed. I will also speak of your statutes before kings, 47because I love them. I will delight myself in your commandments, 48I will meditate on your statutes. I reach out my hands for your commandments, which I love. 49because you gave me hope. Remember your word to your servant, 50for your word has revived me. This is my comfort in my affliction, 51but I don’t swerve from your law. The arrogant mock me excessively, 52and have comforted myself. I remember your ordinances of old, Yahweh, 53because of the wicked who forsake your law. Indignation has taken hold on me, 54in the house where I live. Your statutes have been my songs, 55and I obey your law. I have remembered your name, Yahweh, in the night, 56that I keep your precepts. This is my way, 57I promised to obey your words. Yahweh is my portion. 58Be merciful to me according to your word. I sought your favor with my whole heart. 59and turned my steps to your statutes. I considered my ways, 60to obey your commandments. I will hurry, and not delay, 61but I won’t forget your law. The ropes of the wicked bind me, 62because of your righteous ordinances. At midnight I will rise to give thanks to you, 63of those who observe your precepts. I am a friend of all those who fear you, 64Teach me your statutes. The earth is full of your loving kindness, Yahweh. 65according to your word, Yahweh. Do good to your servant, 66for I believe in your commandments. Teach me good judgment and knowledge, 67but now I observe your word. Before I was afflicted, I went astray; 68Teach me your statutes. You are good, and do good. 69With my whole heart, I will keep your precepts. The proud have smeared a lie upon me. 70but I delight in your law. Their heart is as callous as the fat, 71that I may learn your statutes. It is good for me that I have been afflicted, 72The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver. 73Give me understanding, that I may learn your commandments. Your hands have made me and formed me. 74because I have put my hope in your word. Those who fear you will see me and be glad, 75that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. Yahweh, I know that your judgments are righteous, 76according to your word to your servant. Please let your loving kindness be for my comfort, 77for your law is my delight. Let your tender mercies come to me, that I may live; 78I will meditate on your precepts. Let the proud be disappointed, for they have overthrown me wrongfully. 79They will know your statutes. Let those who fear you turn to me. 80that I may not be disappointed. Let my heart be blameless toward your decrees, 81I hope in your word. My soul faints for your salvation. 82I say, “When will you comfort me?” My eyes fail for your word. 83I don’t forget your statutes. For I have become like a wineskin in the smoke. 84When will you execute judgment on those who persecute me? How many are the days of your servant? 85contrary to your law. The proud have dug pits for me, 86They persecute me wrongfully. Help me! All of your commandments are faithful. 87but I didn’t forsake your precepts. They had almost wiped me from the earth, 88so I will obey the statutes of your mouth. Preserve my life according to your loving kindness, 89Yahweh, your word is settled in heaven forever. 90You have established the earth, and it remains. Your faithfulness is to all generations. 91for all things serve you. Your laws remain to this day, 92I would have perished in my affliction. Unless your law had been my delight, 93for with them, you have revived me. I will never forget your precepts, 94Save me, for I have sought your precepts. I am yours. 95I will consider your statutes. The wicked have waited for me, to destroy me. 96but your commands are boundless. I have seen a limit to all perfection, 97It is my meditation all day. How I love your law! 98for your commandments are always with me. Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, 99for your testimonies are my meditation. I have more understanding than all my teachers, 100because I have kept your precepts. I understand more than the aged, 101that I might observe your word. I have kept my feet from every evil way, 102for you have taught me. I have not turned aside from your ordinances, 103more than honey to my mouth! How sweet are your promises to my taste, 104therefore I hate every false way. Through your precepts, I get understanding; 105and a light for my path. Your word is a lamp to my feet, 106that I will obey your righteous ordinances. I have sworn, and have confirmed it, 107Revive me, Yahweh, according to your word. I am afflicted very much. 108Yahweh, teach me your ordinances. Accept, I beg you, the willing offerings of my mouth. 109yet I won’t forget your law. My soul is continually in my hand, 110yet I haven’t gone astray from your precepts. The wicked have laid a snare for me, 111for they are the joy of my heart. I have taken your testimonies as a heritage forever, 112even to the end. I have set my heart to perform your statutes forever, 113but I love your law. I hate double-minded men, 114I hope in your word. You are my hiding place and my shield. 115that I may keep the commandments of my God. Depart from me, you evildoers, 116Let me not be ashamed of my hope. Uphold me according to your word, that I may live. 117and will have respect for your statutes continually. Hold me up, and I will be safe, 118for their deceit is in vain. You reject all those who stray from your statutes, 119Therefore I love your testimonies. You put away all the wicked of the earth like dross. 120I am afraid of your judgments. My flesh trembles for fear of you. 121Don’t leave me to my oppressors. I have done what is just and righteous. 122Don’t let the proud oppress me. Ensure your servant’s well-being. 123for your righteous word. My eyes fail looking for your salvation, 124Teach me your statutes. Deal with your servant according to your loving kindness. 125that I may know your testimonies. I am your servant. Give me understanding, 126for they break your law. It is time to act, Yahweh, 127yes, more than pure gold. Therefore I love your commandments more than gold, 128I hate every false way. Therefore I consider all of your precepts to be right. 129therefore my soul keeps them. Your testimonies are wonderful, 130It gives understanding to the simple. The entrance of your words gives light. 131for I longed for your commandments. I opened my mouth wide and panted, 132as you always do to those who love your name. Turn to me, and have mercy on me, 133Don’t let any iniquity have dominion over me. Establish my footsteps in your word. 134so I will observe your precepts. Redeem me from the oppression of man, 135Teach me your statutes. Make your face shine on your servant. 136because they don’t observe your law. Streams of tears run down my eyes, 137Your judgments are upright. You are righteous, Yahweh. 138They are fully trustworthy. You have commanded your statutes in righteousness. 139because my enemies ignore your words. My zeal wears me out, 140and your servant loves them. Your promises have been thoroughly tested, 141I don’t forget your precepts. I am small and despised. 142Your law is truth. Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness. 143Your commandments are my delight. Trouble and anguish have taken hold of me. 144Give me understanding, that I may live. Your testimonies are righteous forever. 145Answer me, Yahweh! I will keep your statutes. I have called with my whole heart. 146I will obey your statutes. I have called to you. Save me! 147I put my hope in your words. I rise before dawn and cry for help. 148that I might meditate on your word. My eyes stay open through the night watches, 149Revive me, Yahweh, according to your ordinances. Hear my voice according to your loving kindness. 150They are far from your law. They draw near who follow after wickedness. 151All your commandments are truth. You are near, Yahweh. 152that you have founded them forever. Of old I have known from your testimonies, 153for I don’t forget your law. Consider my affliction, and deliver me, 154Revive me according to your promise. Plead my cause, and redeem me! 155for they don’t seek your statutes. Salvation is far from the wicked, 156Revive me according to your ordinances. Great are your tender mercies, Yahweh. 157I haven’t swerved from your testimonies. Many are my persecutors and my adversaries. 158because they don’t observe your word. I look at the faithless with loathing, 159Revive me, Yahweh, according to your loving kindness. Consider how I love your precepts. 160Every one of your righteous ordinances endures forever. All of your words are truth. 161but my heart stands in awe of your words. Princes have persecuted me without a cause, 162as one who finds great plunder. I rejoice at your word, 163I love your law. I hate and abhor falsehood. 164because of your righteous ordinances. Seven times a day, I praise you, 165Nothing causes them to stumble. Those who love your law have great peace. 166I have done your commandments. I have hoped for your salvation, Yahweh. 167I love them exceedingly. Let my cry come before you, Yahweh. 170Deliver me according to your word. Let my supplication come before you. 171for you teach me your statutes. Let my lips utter praise, 172for all your commandments are righteousness. Let my tongue sing of your word, 173for I have chosen your precepts. Let your hand be ready to help me, 174Your law is my delight. I have longed for your salvation, Yahweh. 175Let your ordinances help me. Let my soul live, that I may praise you. 176Seek your servant, for I don’t forget your commandments. I have gone astray like a lost sheep.
