Song of Solomon 1

1The Song of songs, which is Solomon’s. 2for your love is better than wine. Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth; 3Your name is oil poured out, therefore the virgins love you. Your oils have a pleasing fragrance. 4Let us hurry. The king has brought me into his rooms. We will praise your love more than wine! Take me away with you. We will be glad and rejoice in you. They are right to love you. 5you daughters of Jerusalem, like Kedar’s tents, like Solomon’s curtains. I am dark, but lovely, 6because the sun has scorched me. They made me keeper of the vineyards. I haven’t kept my own vineyard. Don’t stare at me because I am dark, My mother’s sons were angry with me. 7where you graze your flock, where you rest them at noon; For why should I be as one who is veiled beside the flocks of your companions? Tell me, you whom my soul loves, 8follow the tracks of the sheep. Graze your young goats beside the shepherds’ tents. If you don’t know, most beautiful among women, 9to a steed in Pharaoh’s chariots. I have compared you, my love, 10your neck with strings of jewels. Your cheeks are beautiful with earrings, 11with studs of silver. We will make you earrings of gold, 12my perfume spread its fragrance. While the king sat at his table, 13that lies between my breasts. My beloved is to me a sachet of myrrh, 14from the vineyards of En Gedi. My beloved is to me a cluster of henna blossoms 15Behold, you are beautiful. Your eyes are doves. Behold, * you are beautiful, my love. 16and our couch is verdant. Behold, you are beautiful, my beloved, yes, pleasant; 17Our rafters are firs. The beams of our house are cedars.
