Proverbs 7
1My son, keep my words. Lay up my commandments within you. 2Guard my teaching as the apple of your eye. Keep my commandments and live! 3Write them on the tablet of your heart. Bind them on your fingers. 4Call understanding your relative, Tell wisdom, “You are my sister.” 5from the foreigner who flatters with her words. that they may keep you from the strange woman, 6I looked out through my lattice. For at the window of my house, 7I discerned among the youths a young man void of understanding, I saw among the simple ones. 8he went the way to her house, passing through the street near her corner, 9in the middle of the night and in the darkness. in the twilight, in the evening of the day, 10and with crafty intent. Behold, there a woman met him with the attire of a prostitute, 11Her feet don’t stay in her house. She is loud and defiant. 12and lurking at every corner. Now she is in the streets, now in the squares, 13With an impudent face she said to him: So she caught him, and kissed him. 14Today I have paid my vows. “Sacrifices of peace offerings are with me. 15to diligently seek your face, and I have found you. Therefore I came out to meet you, 16with striped cloths of the yarn of Egypt. I have spread my couch with carpets of tapestry, 17I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. 18Let’s solace ourselves with loving. Come, let’s take our fill of loving until the morning. 19He has gone on a long journey. For my husband isn’t at home. 20He will come home at the full moon.” He has taken a bag of money with him. 21With the flattering of her lips, she seduced him. With persuasive words, she led him astray. 22as an ox goes to the slaughter, as a fool stepping into a noose. He followed her immediately, 23as a bird hurries to the snare, and doesn’t know that it will cost his life. Until an arrow strikes through his liver, 24Pay attention to the words of my mouth. Now therefore, sons, listen to me. 25Don’t go astray in her paths, Don’t let your heart turn to her ways. 26Yes, all her slain are a mighty army. for she has thrown down many wounded. 27going down to the rooms of death.
