Proverbs 28
1The wicked flee when no one pursues; but the righteous are as bold as a lion. 2but order is maintained by a man of understanding and knowledge. In rebellion, a land has many rulers, 3is like a driving rain which leaves no crops. A needy man who oppresses the poor 4but those who keep the law contend with them. Those who forsake the law praise the wicked; 5but those who seek Yahweh understand it fully. Evil men don’t understand justice; 6than he who is perverse in his ways, and he is rich. Better is the poor who walks in his integrity, 7but he who is a companion of gluttons shames his father. Whoever keeps the law is a wise son; 8gathers it for one who has pity on the poor. He who increases his wealth by excessive interest 9even his prayer is an abomination. He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, 10he will fall into his own trap; but the blameless will inherit good. Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, 11but the poor who has understanding sees through him. The rich man is wise in his own eyes; 12but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves. When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; 13but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy. He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, 14but one who hardens his heart falls into trouble. Blessed is the man who always fears; 15so is a wicked ruler over helpless people. As a roaring lion or a charging bear, 16One who hates ill-gotten gain will have long days. A tyrannical ruler lacks judgment. 17no one will support him. A man who is tormented by life blood will be a fugitive until death; 18but one with perverse ways will fall suddenly. Whoever walks blamelessly is kept safe; 19but one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty. One who works his land will have an abundance of food; 20but one who is eager to be rich will not go unpunished. A faithful man is rich with blessings; 21yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread. To show partiality is not good; 22and doesn’t know that poverty waits for him. A stingy man hurries after riches, 23than one who flatters with the tongue. One who rebukes a man will afterward find more favor 24He is a partner with a destroyer. Whoever robs his father or his mother, and says, “It’s not wrong.” 25but one who trusts in Yahweh will prosper. One who is greedy stirs up strife; 26but one who walks in wisdom is kept safe. One who trusts in himself is a fool; 27but one who closes his eyes will have many curses. One who gives to the poor has no lack; 28but when they perish, the righteous thrive. When the wicked rise, men hide themselves;
